Q) What are OTTER weathervanes made of?
A) Our weathervanes are made of steel. We do not make copper weathervanes. However, unlike many manufacturers, we are happy to disclose all material sizes used in the manufacture of our weathervanes.
Q) What is the finish on an OTTER weathervane?
A) We have two finishes, economy and deluxe, but in simple terms, the deluxe finish will never need re-painting, but the economy finish will.
Q) Does it come in a box?
A) All our weathervanes come in flat-pack form with instructions for assembly. Assembly really is very simple, and the instructions are written in plain English, not gobbledegook!

Q) How do I fix my weathervane?
A) OTTER weathervanes come with a choice of fitting bracket, included in the price.
Q) Which way does a weathervane point?
A) The arrow of a weathervane points into the wind -therefore if the arrow is over the N, there is a North wind, because north winds come from the North.
Q) How do I set the weathervane to the correct orientation?
A) To be really accurate, you need a compass. Alternatively, if you stand with your back to the sun at mid-day GMT, you will be facing north. If, however, it is cloudy and raining you will get wet, so go indoors, have a cup of tea, and try again tomorrow!
Q) Are weathervanes in stock?
A) No, every weathervane is individually made to order. We do, however, keep a wide range of components in stock. If we have the motif in stock, it will usually take 2-3 weeks before despatch for black weathervanes, or 4-5 weeks for a coloured weathervane. If the motif is not in stock, please add a minimum extra 2 weeks. If you are working to a deadline, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you would like to check on availability please contact us by phone or email stating size and finish required. It might help if you had a second choice, or even a “wish list”.
Q) What is your returns policy?
A) Because all weathervanes are made to order, we cannot accept returns. If, however you have bought or received an OTTER weathervane as a gift and chosen the wrong fitting, we are happy to exchange it for the correct one. In this case, provided the original is returned in pristine, re-sellable, condition we will simply charge the postage, at cost, on the replacement.
Q) How do I pay?
A) We accept, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Maestro, Electron & Solo, or you may send a cheque to

Q) How do you deliver?
A) For UK mainland we use DPD, a 24 hour carrier. Delivery will be on the day following despatch, or 2 days for Scotland. Delivery addresses on off-shore islands and Northern Ireland will usually be despatched by Royal Mail or Parcel force. Overseas deliveries also use Interlink, via their Geopost parent company. Most overseas orders will be delivered within 2-3 days of despatch. For Uk orders by Interlink you will receive an email on the morning of despatch, giving a one hour time slot for delivery.
Q) Will you acknowledge my order?
A) On-line orders will receive an automated acknowledgement immediately, followed by a personal email acknowledgement within 3 working days. This will advise order number and anticipated despatch date. . If you do not receive an acknowledgement in 3 working days, please contact us to make sure we have received your order. (Sometimes customers give us an invalid email address, which delays an acknowledgement).
Q) Do you make anything else, apart from weathervanes?
A) Yes, we also make house signs using the same motifs as are available on weathervanes.
Q) What information do you store about your customers?
A) We keep details of your order for at least 3 years. We do NOT maintain a mailing list and never send out mail shots or promotional emails. We will never pass on your name or email address to a third party.
